Performed by piano duo Andrew Rumsey and Ivan Horvatic, this program traces a journey from enchantment and innocence through darkness, mystery, and transformation.
The evening begins in a realm of light and wonder, with the evocative storytelling of Grieg’s Peer Gynt and the delicate fairytale colours of Ravel’s Mother Goose As the night deepens, shadows emerge — Saint-Saëns’ Danse macabre introduces a playful encounter with the supernatural, before the music descends into the raw, elemental power of Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain.
The journey culminates in Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, a thrilling tale of magic unleashed, that brings the evening to an exhilarating close.
